On the 3rd of May 2025, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Eric’s First Holy Communion in Virginia, Co. Cavan. It was a truly special day filled with joy, pride and beautiful moments shared among family.
The day began at Eric’s home, where I captured the preparations in the company of his closest loved ones. This is always my favorite part of a Communion photoshoot. There’s a calm excitement in the air — a mix of anticipation, pride and pure joy — with everyone focused on the most important person of the day: the Communion boy. Eric was no exception. Surrounded by love and encouragement, he got ready with a big smile and sparkling eyes, and I felt privileged to witness and preserve these intimate moments.
Once Eric was dressed and ready, we stepped outside for a photoshoot in a beautiful park just beside the house. We couldn’t have asked for better weather — the sun was shining, casting the most perfect, natural light that made the photos glow with warmth. The combination of the setting, the light, and Eric’s energy made this part of the shoot feel magical.
Later, we made our way to the Church of Mary Immaculate in Virginia, where the ceremony took place. After the Mass, I had the opportunity to take a few more family portraits outside the church, capturing the joy and pride radiating from everyone.
It was a truly wonderful day — relaxed, full of meaning, and full of love. I’m incredibly grateful to Eric’s family for welcoming me into their lives once again. I had photographed his older sister Emily’s Communion two years ago, so it was a real honour to return and document this milestone for Eric.
