Sometimes the most special photos are the ones that happen by chance.
Back in September 2018, after a local football match, we decided to stop by the Slieve Russell Hotel’s gardens. The weather was too lovely to go straight home — that perfect mix of gentle sunshine and crisp autumn air. The trees were showing their first golden colors, and everything felt calm and beautiful.
We hadn’t planned a photoshoot that day. Maxi was still in his sports outfit and football shoes, and the boys wore their everyday clothes. No matching outfits, no posing — just us, enjoying the moment.
And that’s when I took one of my favorite autumn pictures ever.
There was something so real about it — the mix of warm light, autumn leaves, and our simple joy after the game. Every time I look at that photo, I remember how spontaneous it was, how unplanned yet perfect it turned out to be.
Photography isn’t always about preparation or perfect styling. Sometimes, it’s about recognizing the beauty in a simple, ordinary moment — and pressing the shutter at just the right time.
That’s why this picture will always stay close to my heart.
